2017 Grammys Slam Donald Trump

The Grammy Awards took their first direct hit on President Donald Trump and his recently still halted travel ban Executive Order with a tribe called Quest attacking the President from the stage of the Staples Center in downtown L.A. The words "resist, resist, resist," were chanted at the end of politically charged performance of the band's "We The People," "Moving backwards," and other songs. The leader Q-Tip from ATCQ was the one who chanted the words after their performance as a way of cheering. The words were also chanted as the stage of the arena filled with people who were representing the groups that the court blunted immigration policies of the former Celebrity Apprentice host aimed to block from coming to America. I was very interested at what the long time ATCQ collaborator, Busta Rhymes said about a third of the way through the band's performance. He stated, “I’m not digging the political climate right now." I was also very shocked after I heard some of the lyrics. The lyrics of the band's tune in the persona of those to the right of the political spectrum stated, "Muslims and gays, boy we hate your ways." As well as, “All of the bad folks you must go, all of the poor folks you must go, all of you Mexicans, you must go,” ATCQ added as the likes of Jay-Z and Beyonce danced and sang along in the VIP seats. All of this just amazes me due to the fact that most people to this day are still really racist and do not care about what they say or how it affects other people.
